BCCI Nominated Kohli for Khel Ratna and Rahane for Arjuna Award

CRB Tech has come across a recent development in the world of cricket, where BCCI has declared their nominees for Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award. BCCI has nominated Virat Kohli for the prestigious Khel Ratna and Rahane for Arjuna Award. After an interval of four years a cricketer has been nominated for the high ranking Khel Ratna. BCCI sources confirmed the development and a Sports Ministry official has confirmed receiving the recommendations from the BCCI.

India’s Test captain Virat Kohli may soon have another distinguished feather in his already significant cap. If Kohli is selected for the honor, it will make him the third cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni to claim the the award. If selected, Rahane will join the league of teammates Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, who have been previous recipients of the awards.

A brief cheering moment for the cricket fans as the competition is tough and the fans await the final decision of the selection committee. According to sources, Kohli will be competing with Jitu Rai, 2014 Asian Games gold medalist shooter, golfer Anirban Lahiri, athlete Tintu Luka and squash player Deepika Pallikal for the Khel Ratna.

The Khel Ratna consist of a cash prize of Rs 7.5 lakh along with a citation, while the Arjuna award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a citation.

The last one year was incredible for Kohli, who got the Test captaincy in early 2015 after the retirement of Dhoni. He led India to a series win in Sri Lanka, and that followed with a 3-0 win against South Africa at home. Kohli is enjoying an excellent form in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He was also at the top of his game in the preceding ICC World T20, when he single handed guided India to wins over Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. For his accomplished moves, Kohli was named the World T20 Player of the Tournament and skipper of the World T20 team.
