“Sarbjit” directed by Omung Kumar is based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of spying in Pakistan and was charged for carrying out terrorist activities there. He was given death sentence and even after several petitions for a review on the sentence , no mercy was shown to him. Unfortunately he was allegedly attacked by other prisoners, with bricks, sharp metal sheets, iron rods and blades and he suffered severe head injuries which led to coma and with a broken backbone. On 2 May 2013, he was reported to have died in Lahore after the removal of ventilator support. On receiving his body in India , Indian doctors claimed that the second postmortem revealed that vital organs were missing from his body. Autopsy revealed that his skull was broken into two pieces. First postmortem report that was carried out in Pakistan is yet awaited.
