Today Eid-ul-fitr is being celebrated by the Muslim community in some parts of the world. Even India and its neighboring countries are celebrating this day amidst lots of merriment and offering prayers. Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated at the the end of Ramadan and marks the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. This is the one of the most important religious festivals in the Muslim calendar.
Having spent 29 or 30 days fasting (this time being dependent on the phase of the moon), Muslims see Eid-ul-Fitr as a time to celebrate. Across the globe, friends and family members are united as the streets come alive with the sound of music, fireworks and prayers……a very special time indeed.
New clothes and haircuts are a must-have for Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr, and everyone, young and old , take a special effort to look their best. As part of charity, money is often donated to the poor , while banks, shops and everyday working places are closed down for three and a half days to allow time for people to pray, celebrate and rest.
But there is a point that the Muslim countries worldwide differ in their approach to Eid-ul-Fitr. From Indonesia to the United Arab Emirates, there is always a new commemoration to try each and every year . It would be a great idea to pack the bags and explore one of those countries.
