Worldwide box office (BO) collection of “Akira” has crossed Rs. 16 crore by the end of a 1st weekend, beating the overseas 3-day earning of Tiger Shroff’s “A Flying Jatt.”
Actress Sonakshi Sinha-starring “Akira” has raked in over Rs 16 crore in the opening weekend. According to a released statement by the film’s publicist, Akira is having a steady run at the box office.
The movie collected Rs 6.20 crore on Sunday taking the total business to Rs 16.65 crore, as per sources.
Directed by filmmaker A.R. Murugadoss, “Akira” is released on Friday. The movie minted Rs 5.15 crore on day one and Rs 5.30 crore on day second.
Presented by Fox Star Studios, “Akira” saw the coming together of Sonakshi and Murugadoss again on the big screen. He previously directed Sonakshi in the film “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty”, which was another big success at the box office.
‘Akira’ director Murugadoss said Sonakshi fought like a man in the movie.
“Akira” depicts Sonakshi’s character coming to Mumbai from Jodhpur, where she gets into a tiff with the goons of the college where she enrolled.
The story reels about her fight to come out of a case, where the college goons, a corrupt policeman, the role played by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and another essayed by Konkona Sen Sharma, plays the crucial role.
The movie collected Rs 6.20 crore on Sunday taking the total movie collection to Rs 16.65 crore, as per sources.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh Informed that the international figures depict that the movie performed well in UAE-GCC and Pakistan. He tweeted that #Akira does decent biz Overseas… Best in UAE-GCC and Pakistan.
The opening weekend overseas collection of “Akira” is even more than Tiger Shroff’s “A Flying Jatt.” When Sonakshi’s Akira earned Rs. 5.76 crore at the global circuit, there “A Flying Jatt” had made an overseas collection of Rs. 4 crores (approx) by the end of the first weekend.
But, the domestic earning of Tiger’s film over the weekend was more than “Akira.” “Akira” collected Rs. 16.65 crore net at Indian BO on the first weekend and “A Flying Jatt” had earned Rs. 22.35 crore nett (starting from Friday while running through Sunday).
